Massachusetts, like many other liberal states, doubled down on gun control after the 2022 Bruen Supreme Court decision. What started as H.4420 in 2023 morphed into H.4885, a massive omnibus gun control package, which Governor Healey signed into law in July 2024 (passed as Chapter 135). Since then, things have only gotten worse for Massachusetts gun owners.
Recent 2026 developments have only intensified the pressure, including new mandatory LTC curriculum requirements that burden instructors with more questions than answers and ongoing lawsuits against the state’s restrictive approved firearms roster, which even the DOJ has its eye on. A voter referendum on the November 2026 ballot now offers a chance to repeal H.4885, but the fight remains uphill in one of the nation’s most anti-gun states.
State-level advocacy is more important than ever, and yet participation remains nominal. In an effort to change that, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) will host the New England Firearms Advocacy Conference on Saturday, May 30, at the Castle of Knights in Chicopee, Mass.
“The great list of speakers we’re having at the New England conference should make for a lively, educational, and meaningful event,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “We’re grateful to have such a robust talent pool of speakers and volunteers participating in this event.”

To encourage attendance, CCRKBA has kept the cost minimal, and even includes a one-year membership. The compelling speaker lineup should also attract attention, and News2A contributor and host of the Riding Shotgun With Charlie podcast, Charlie Cook, will emcee.
