WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear two of the biggest Second Amendment cases in years, granting the Second Amendment Foundation’s petitions in Viramontes v. Cook County and Grant v. Higgins. Both challenge the bans on so-called “assault weapons” in Illinois and Connecticut, and both come down to one question: are the most commonly owned rifles in America protected by the Second Amendment?
