DOJ Enters the New Jersey AWB and Mag Ban Cases, Sets the Record Straight on Common Use
The Department of Justice, making good on President Trump’s executive order to “Protect the Second Amendment,” has just filed an amicus brief in the case of ANJRPC v. Platkin. The case challenges New Jersey’s ban on so-called “assault weapons” and standard capacity magazines. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit will be hearing this case en banc on October 15, 2025.
Third Circuit To Rehear En Banc Challenge to New Jersey’s AWB and Magazine Ban Case
ANJRPC v. Platkin, which is a consolidation of three cases challenging New Jersey’s so-called “assault weapon” ban and “high capacity magazine” ban, was heard by the Third Circuit less than two months ago in front of a three-judge panel. Before that panel could even render a decision, the full court has decided to hear the case en banc.
