Glock Symbolic ‘Whipping Boy’ as Coordinated Attacks by Anti-Gunners on Firearms Manufacturers Continue

An image of a judge's gavel and the scales of justice in the background.

On December 6, Glock unveiled its brand new Gen 6 line of pistols. But behind the new product announcement is the story of a coordinated and sophisticated attack against Glock and other popular pistol manufacturers that continues today.

Whether Glock’s refresh to its pistol lineup design will mitigate its legal troubles is yet to be seen. Glock does however remain the symbolic poster child of the anti-gun left’s newest attack vector on semi-automatic firearms, which, when looked at in chronological order, reveals a well-planned and perhaps even coordinated, multi-pronged battle on Second Amendment rights at large.

And much of it started in New Jersey.

To refresh the reader, Glock – which is one of many manufacturers of striker-fired pistols – has been the subject of particular and focused legal attacks by the anti-gun left under the narrative that its products are negligently designed because they can be easily (and illegally) retrofit with “switches” that allow them to engage in automatic fire.

A brief timeline of events that we have covered in-depth show that this attack appears to be coordinated over the last few years with both legal and public relations attacks launched by liberal, anti-gun states and legislatures, along with support from anti-gun non-profit interests.

A timeline:

July 5, 2022 – New Jersey enacts a “public nuisance” law redefining the tort of “public nuisance” in New Jersey as it applies to members of the firearm industry, a move which would allow frivolous lawsuits against firearms manufacturers.

November 17, 2022 – National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) brings suit against New Jersey (and Delaware, which passed a similar law), showing they violated the Congress’ 2005 bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA).

August 17, 2023 – Third Circuit Court of Appeals dismisses NSSF suit stating, “we see little evidence that enforcement is looming.”

March 2024 – City of Chicago sues Glock for design and marketing practices. In July, the city quietly moves to dismiss the suit, and re-files in federal court, adding Glock Ges.m.b.H., Eagle Sports Range, and Midwest Sporting Goods as defendants.

December 12, 2024 – A New Jersey-led “coalition” of 16 states sues Glock under its “nuisance law”, attempting to ban sales under the guise of “promoting public safety” and preventing a “public health” crisis.

February 6, 2025 – NSSF moves to reopen its November 2022 case, and on April 2, a judge allows the suit to move forward noting that, “…despite claiming it would not do so, [the Attorney General] brought an enforcement action against one of NSSF’s members.”

May 1, 2025 – Amidst mounting legal pressure, Glock quietly discontinued 35 models, with only a small statement on its website.

August 19, 2025 – Glock mysteriously pens a letter to Oklahoma lawmakers urging the state to pass state legislation that would make it illegal to possess machine gun conversion devices (MCDs also known as switches) going beyond federal law. Some speculate it’s a defensive legal maneuver, while others call it a betrayal of gun owners by supporting gun control measures.

October 10, 2025 – California Governor Gavin Newsom signs bill that creates a new definition of a firearm in contravention of federal law and bans “machinegun-convertible pistols,” designed to specifically target Glock and Glock clones.

October 16, 2025 – New Jersey launches a lawsuit against Sig Sauer, alleging defective design in its 320 model, and including the specious argument that “Children have experienced the panic of witnessing a gun suddenly firing at a football game…”

October 21, 2025 – Glock announces it will phase out 49 specific commercial pistol models and variants, with production and shipping ceasing after November 30, 2025. The Economic Times calls the move, “…one of the largest portfolio transitions in the company’s history.”

October 22, 2025 – Glock announces its new V series, hinting at internal design changes many speculated would combat the retrofit of MCDs or “switches”.

(Within days, posts on X and elsewhere showed evidence that people were prototyping switch designs to retrofit on the new V series, and on November 24, 2025, one popular and well-respected gun channel allegedly showed a Glock V series outfitted with a switch and capable of automatic fire.)

November 7, 2025 – Anti-gun group Everytown launches a PR campaign threatening to sue Ruger over its popular, striker-fired RXM pistol, alleging that they are attempting, “…to mimic a Glock and to be customizable with the same aftermarket parts.” Everytown funded anti-gun candidates Mikie Sherrill, in New Jersey, and Abigail Spanberger, in Virginia, to the tune of $1.5 million collectively, as we reported.

December 6, 2025 – Glock announces new Gen 6 product lineup.
