Yesterday, we reported on Glock’s actions to significantly trim its product line, with unverified rumors swirling about a possible new lineup. Today, we can confirm that Glock is indeed introducing a new line of pistols it is calling the “V Series”.
News2A is in possession of an email directly from Glock to a Texas-based FFL entitled “Product Updates from GLOCK,” which states, “The GLOCK V Series is coming,” going on to add, “The GLOCK V Series is here to establish a baseline of products while simplifying our processes.”
As we have previously reported, Glock is under intense pressure from lawsuits and anti-gun groups due to criminal activity in which users illegally modify Glock pistols with “switches” that increase their rate of fire, and often use these illegally-modified firearms in criminal acts. Glock makes no such mention of these lawsuits in their announcement, nor what the mechanical changes might entail, instead positioning the new offerings as innovations coming to the new product line:
As part of GLOCK’s commitment to future innovations, we are making necessary updates to our product line to align with upcoming offerings. Our dedication continues to be with maintaining the highest level of quality, reliability, and accessibility that you expect from GLOCK.
The only physical changes that Glock affirms is that, “GLOCK V Series pistols are marked on the slide and frame with a ‘V.'” The only clue Glock offers to possible internal, operational modifications comes with their acknowledgement that, “Externally, the pistols remain the same trusted look and performance you already know.”
